How to Clean Tempered Glass
Tempered glass is glass that has been heated and cooled in a way that increases the strength of regular glass. Tempered glass windows has become quite popular over the years for homes all over Sydney. This is because of its durability and versatility. It also causes the glass to break in round pieces, as opposed to sharp edges. However, as much as tempered glass increases the strength of the glass, it is easily scratched, and one should not clean it with abrasives or metal blades. Below is a detailed description of how to clean tempered glass.
Step By Step Process On How To Clean Tempered Glass
Equipment You Will Need:
- Dish Soap
- Spray Bottle
- Soft Cloth
Step 1: Make The Solution
You will need to mix the dish soap and water in equal amounts and pour the mixture into a spray bottle. Once that is done, you can then shut it and mix the solution by shaking the bottle. It will now be ready to use on your tempered glass.
Step 2: Wash The Glass
Spray the water and dish soap mixture on the tempered glass. This cleaning process is easy, but be careful not to damage the glass as it is delicate. It is, therefore, crucial to avoid any shortcuts and ensure that you do not drag small particles over it as it will scratch the surface. Once you have sprayed the mixture, allow it to soak into the dirt for around ten seconds. After that is done, wipe it off with a soft sponge. It is advised to avoid using a scouring pad here. In case there are stubborn areas, you may need to spray the area twice and do a second wiping with the sponge. Do not use harsher methods on the problematic spots as it will damage the glass. Also, ensure that you do this process section by section, and not the entire area at once since it will not clean it efficiently.
Step 3: Dry The Glass
Using a soft cloth, buff the tempered glass to restore the shine to it. Try to be as gentle as possible while doing this to avoid the risk of scratching the surface.
When cleaning tempered glass, it is advised to avoid steel wools, vinegar, and scouring pads. Also, avoid any abrasive powders as they will be harsh on the glass. By following the above procedure, your glass will be as good as new in no time, and it will serve you longer. You will also be happy with the results.
You should also give your tempered glass windows professionally cleaned at least once per year to keep them looking great but make sure you advise your professional window cleaning technician that it is tempered glass to avoid any damage during the cleaning process.
